Thank you so much for thinking of the Parma Animal Shelter — your generosity truly means the world to us and the animals in our care.

If you’re donating supplies from your own pet, we want to share a quick note: we’re unable to accept-

• Stuffed animals
• Carriers with any rust
• Food that isn’t in its original container.

We also ask that any open bags of food be securely taped shut before drop‑off.

To help guide donations, we keep an updated wishlist on our website with the items we use most often. Anything we can’t use is never wasted — we re-donate supplies to wonderful partner groups like Geauga Moms and Pups and Companion Pets of Cleveland. We are so grateful for the continued generosity and support from our community-it truly makes a difference for the animals in our care every single day.

At this time we kindly ask that you do not donate any bedding from personal use (including all sheets, comforters, pillows and cases,  quilts and blankets). Clean and usable towels can be accepted. While we deeply appreciate the thoughtfulness behind these donations, we are no longer able to accept them.

Thank you for understanding and for helping us keep our shelter safe, clean and comfortable for all of our animals.

🐾 Sponsor a Cage

You can honor a special person or pet by sponsoring a cage.

Food & Supply Donations

Thank you again for thinking of us — our volunteers are at the shelter twice a day caring for the animals, cleaning, doing laundry, walking dogs, and keeping everything running smoothly. They’re typically at the shelter for 3–4 hours in the early morning and early evening.

You’re welcome to drop off donations on the bench outside the shelter or, if they fit, in the glass donation bin near the mailbox. Please ring the doorbell so volunteers know something has been left. If it’s raining, placing items in a plastic bag is very helpful.

• If you’d like an acknowledgement, just include a note with your name and address.
• We gladly accept open bags of food as long as they are securely taped closed.
• Sealed food we can’t use is passed along to Companion Pets of Cleveland for their pet food assistance program.
• Open food we can’t use goes to Geauga Moms and Pups.
• Other items we can’t use may be sold at one of our garage sales to support the shelter.

If you’d like, you can also send me a quick list of what you’re dropping off and when. I’ll share it with our volunteers on our closed Facebook page so they know to expect you. You can also provide your name and address at that time for an in-kind donation acknowledgement.

Tax Information

The Parma Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

All monetary donations are tax deductible.

Goods or services donated may be deducted at their fair market value.

For event tickets, the portion paid above the fair market value of the ticket is deductible.

Example: If a ticket costs $25 and you pay $100, then $75 is tax deductible.

Merchandise purchases are not tax deductible.
