DOGS
Dogs
get: 1 year rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, Bordetella vaccine,
Heartworm test and 1st heartworm pill, they are also
checked for worms.
We take them to the Vet of our choice for spay/neuter.
CATS
KITTENS:
Kittens are tested for Felv and wormed at least once and given their
1st of 3 required kitten shots (the other 2 shots and the second
worming are on the new owner). The shot is for FVRCP. They are also
given a certificate for a FREE spay or neuter and a rabies vaccination
(good for 3 years) when the kitten is of age for altering (usually
6 months). The male kittens go to Dr. Clark at Suburban and the
females to Dr. Hart in North Royalton.
CATS: Cats are tested for Felv/FIV and given their vaccinations
for FVRCP (they are not due again until the following year- this
is on the owner). 100% of the males are neutered before leaving
the shelter and about 99.8% of females. It is only under VERY SPECIAL
circumstances that we let an unspayed female leave, and even so,
she usually has an appointment set up for a spay within 3 weeks
of release, all the new owner has to do is take her there. They
also get a rabies vaccination (good for 3 years) at time of spay/neuter.
