Parma Animal Shelter's List of Available Animals
Featured Dog :: Blitzen

Blitzen is a 5-6-year old lab mix who loves to show affection. He'd be an ideal companion for a quiet evening stroll. He has a happy go lucky personality and loves being with people! Blitzen weighs 51 pounds and is up-to-date on shots and neutered. He is probably housebroken.
Please call 440-885-8014 if you are interested in Blitzen or send us an email.
Featured Cat :: Harlowe

This stunning feline is named Harlowe. She is a 6 year old female, who has been at the shelter for over 1 1/2 years. Harlowe is very sweet, but may need time to adjust when getting to know you. Once she has bonded with someone, she is a friend for life. She would likely do best in a home without dogs or young children and would be okay with other cats as long as they were calm. Harlowe is defiantly a lover, not a fighter. If you have the patience to win the devotion of a sweet shy kitty, I would love to come home with you.
Harlowe is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
Please call 440-885-8014 if you are interested in Harlowe or send us an email.

Dogs
Adjusting to a New Home
When you adopt a dog, please, give him time to get used to his surroundings and your family structure and routines. Time (at least 2 weeks) to get him used to your schedule and patience are essential elements to a successful adoption. We try to socialize our dogs with as many volunteers as possible but we cannot duplicate a home environment by any means.
Shelter Life
Life in a shelter is very stressful for animals and they need a period of adjustment once they come to your home. All of our "guests" deserve a chance to be part of a loving family.
We ask only that you give them a FAIR chance!

Evaluating Dogs
We update information on temperament etc. as we learn about our guests. Remember our animals don't have AKC papers - they were strays so we are guessing at their breed!
Lost and Found!
Dogs found by animal control are kept for three days so their owners can find them. We will take applications in the meantime but please consider a dog who has been in the shelter longer "just in case". We have lots of good dogs who have been waiting a long time for a home. Please give them a chance to find a place in your heart.
We dedicate this poem to all the ones who didn't make it into the shelter because there was no room! Click here!
