Featured Dog :: Blazer

Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Blazer is a 2-year-old male mix, probably lab and cattle dog. He has had all his shots and been neutered. He is friendly, loves people and LOVES to play. Fortunately, he is also very smart and has learned commands very quickly including how to roll over, but anyone who adopts him will need to keep up the obedience work with him. He weighs 37 pounds and is housebroken.

Featured Cat :: Sissy

Parma Shelter Adoptable Cat

My name is Sissy, but some think it should have been Sassy. I have a lot of energy packed into this 5-7 yr old body. I like to sit and look beautiful with my gorgeous coat of long hair. Then when you, or another kitty, least expect it, I spring to action and decide to play. I love to bat at moving objects (living or not). And I absolutely love being petted. If you want a beautiful little fireball in your life, my sassy self is the one for you!

Will You Take Me Home?

Adjusting to a New Home

When you adopt a dog, please, give him time to get used to his surroundings and your family structure and routines. Time (at least 2 weeks) to get him used to your schedule and patience are essential elements to a successful adoption. We try to socialize our dogs with as many volunteers as possible but we cannot duplicate a home environment by any means.

Shelter Life

Life in a shelter is very stressful for animals and they need a period of adjustment once they come to your home. All of our "guests" deserve a chance to be part of a loving family.

We ask only that you give them a FAIR chance!

Questions and Answers

Have questions about our dogs? E-mail us!

If you have questions about dog and puppy care see our Links pages!

Evaluating Dogs

We update information on temperament etc. as we learn about our guests. Remember our animals don't have AKC papers - they were strays so we are guessing at their breed!

Training and Handling

Our dog handlers attend classes to teach them commands, how to walk nicely without pulling, and thus become more adoptable. If you are interested in pursuing this training after adoption, Ginger Alpine offers classes... Please call (440) 236-9083 if you want information on upcoming classes.

Lost and Found!

Dogs found by animal control are kept for three days so their owners can find them. We will take applications in the meantime but please consider a dog who has been in the shelter longer "just in case". We have lots of good dogs who have been waiting a long time for a home. Please give them a chance to find a place in your heart.

We dedicate this poem to all the ones who didn't make it into the shelter because there was no room! Click here!
