Kevin
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Kevin, a mellow, gentle lab mix, would love to go to a quiet home where he would be pampered and loved. Kevin is a 71-pound lap dog who really enjoys attention. He is about 10 years old, up-to-date on shots and will be neutered before adoption. He is housebroken.

Layla
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Layla is a sweetheart of a girl. She is a 1-year-old shepherd/Lab mix. She is very smart and seems easily trainable; she will be the top dog at any obedience class! Because Layla has the Shepherd urge to chew, we highly recommend crate training. Layla weighs 46 pounds, is up-to-date on shots, is housebroken and will be spayed soon.

Banjo
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Banjo is a darling typical puppy who loves people and loves to play (what baby doesn't?). A terrier mix, he's only 5 months old and weighs 20 pounds. He also seems to be housebroken. He's been neutered and had all his shots.

Bandit
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Bandit is a 10-month-old Border Collie mix who weighs 57 pounds. He's up to date on shots and has been neutered. A bonus: He's housebroken and knows commands. Bandit would be great in a home with older kids.

Jethro
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Jethro is a handsome American Foxhound. He's about 5 years old, and weighs 66 pounds. Jethro is a sweetheart who needs someone able to exercise him and let him run in a securely fenced yard or on a leash, preferably in an adults-only home. He's had all his shots and been neutered.

Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Madelyn, a boxer/shepherd mix (we're guessing), would make a terrific addition to any family. She is the sweetest dog, has a laid-back personality and just loves being with people. Madelyn weighs 75 pounds and is 4 years old. She has had all her shots and been spayed, and she is housebroken.

Blitzen
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Blitzen is a 5-6-year old lab mix who loves to show affection. He'd be an ideal companion for a quiet evening stroll. He has a happy go lucky personality and loves being with people! Blitzen weighs 51 pounds and is up-to-date on shots and neutered. He is probably housebroken.

Pete
Parma Shelter Adoptable Dog

Pete, a handsome boxer mix, is a gentle, loving boy who has an active, athletic side to him. He's like that shy child in school who, once he comes out of his shell, has lots of personality. Because of his shy nature, Pete would be best in a home without small children. He's between 1-2 years old, weighs 44 pounds, has had all his shots and has been neutered. He's housebroken, too! Pete has separation anxiety and would benefit from someone being home most of the time.

Will You Take Me Home?

Adjusting to a New Home

When you adopt a dog, please, give him time to get used to his surroundings and your family structure and routines. Time (at least 2 weeks) to get him used to your schedule and patience are essential elements to a successful adoption. We try to socialize our dogs with as many volunteers as possible but we cannot duplicate a home environment by any means.

Shelter Life

Life in a shelter is very stressful for animals and they need a period of adjustment once they come to your home. All of our "guests" deserve a chance to be part of a loving family.

We ask only that you give them a FAIR chance!

Questions and Answers

Have questions about our dogs? E-mail us!

If you have questions about dog and puppy care see our Links pages!

Evaluating Dogs

We update information on temperament etc. as we learn about our guests. Remember our animals don't have AKC papers - they were strays so we are guessing at their breed!

Lost and Found!

Dogs found by animal control are kept for three days so their owners can find them. We will take applications in the meantime but please consider a dog who has been in the shelter longer "just in case". We have lots of good dogs who have been waiting a long time for a home. Please give them a chance to find a place in your heart.

We dedicate this poem to all the ones who didn't make it into the shelter because there was no room! Click here!
